Front End Web Development with General Assembly and NYDesigns
Taught by top practitioners in the field, the course will give aspiring web developers the skills and best practices they need to succeed. In an intimate class of twenty, students will be immersed in a social learning environment where they will learn by doing.
Turn your plans into reality.
In this comprehensive course, we will give students with no prior development experience a foundation in the skills and best practices they need to implement their designs, build prototypes, and work more effectively with developers.
It’s no secret that the most innovative businesses are looking for web designers with strong front-end skills in basic mark-up languages and Javascript. This demand can be seen daily at the startups working at our campus in New York and across industries—from fashion to finance. We also meet talented designers who are eager to fill these roles, but lack the technical know-how. That’s why we’ve developed an accelerated curriculum that will provide creative professionals and entrepreneurs with core front-end web development skills.
Learn by doing.
General Assembly’s ten-week certification program provides in-depth instruction in each of the key languages and skills used in front-end development. Students will progress through units on HTML, CSS, and jQuery. By the completion of the program, students will be able to transform a creative vision into a concrete final project. These projects will be formally assessed, and students who meet all the outlined requirements will earn General Assembly certificate in Front-End Web Development.

About the series: Green Energy Training at CUNY
The City University of New York historically has trained the workers that keep New York City running. Green Energy Training at CUNY (GET@CUNY), coordinated through the Center for Sustainable Energy, is now training the green collar workers who can help keep the City running efficiently and on renewable energy. GET@CUNY offers existing training courses related to energy efficiency, building retrofitting, and renewable energy technologies. GET@CUNY also develops new training courses and makes them available as credit and non-credit modules at multiple CUNY campuses, including NYDesigns at LaGuardia Community College, and partner locations. This training is bolstered by the university's robust investments in research through its "Decade of Science" and its extensive relationships with industry, workforce development, and labor organizations.
Fair Trades: Fast-track job training for artists and creatives
Does art get made while waiting tables?
The hospitality and service industries have traditionally monopolized the “day job” selections of NYC’s artists and creatives. An established caste of professional hybrids – painter/waiter, sculptor/bartender, photographer/busboy - hustles to make money to support themselves and their art/practice. This might be you.
Here’s an alternative.
This summer, register for NYFabricates’ Fair Trades programs in set design and art handling.
Unlike the service industries, these opportunities put you in daily touch with the people, positions, companies and organizations that represent NYC’s artistic and creative sectors. Through Fair Trades, you’ll pick up a new trade with skill, technique and confidence.
